1. Supporting Daily Activities

  • Assisting with personal care (e.g., bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting).
  • Helping with meal preparation and feeding.
  • Supporting household tasks like cleaning, laundry, and shopping.
  • Providing mobility assistance, including using mobility aids or transferring between locations.


2. Community Access and Social Support

  • Facilitating community participation by accompanying participants to events, appointments, or social activities.
  • Encouraging and supporting the participant in building relationships and engaging in recreational activities.
  • Assisting with public transport use or transportation to various locations.


3. Promoting Independence

  • Encouraging skill development, such as cooking, budgeting, and self-care.
  • Empowering participants to make decisions and manage aspects of their daily life.
  • Supporting participants in achieving personal goals, such as learning a new skill or hobby.


4. Emotional Support

  • Offering companionship and emotional support to reduce feelings of isolation.
  • Being a positive presence and encouraging confidence and self-esteem in participants.


5. Following Individualized Plans

  • Adhering to the participant’s NDIS plan, which outlines their goals and the supports they require.
  • Working closely with participants, their families, and other professionals (e.g., therapists, case managers) to provide tailored support.
  • Maintaining clear communication and understanding the participant’s preferences and needs.


6. Advocacy and Rights Support

  • Ensuring participants’ rights are respected and upheld.
  • Assisting participants in advocating for themselves when needed.
  • Recognizing and responding to any safeguarding or wellbeing concerns.


7. Record Keeping and Reporting

  • Documenting daily activities, progress, and incidents in line with NDIS requirements.
  • Reporting any changes in the participant’s condition or needs to relevant stakeholders.
